Key Features

PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is a synthetic polymer consisting of two simple elements: carbon and fluorine. This carbon-fluorine bond is so strong, that it enables the polymer to remain stable in almost all harsh conditions. SRF Suspension PTFE has unique properties that make it a useful material for a wide range of applications:

Very high melting point:

With a melting point of around 327°C, there are very few situations where PTFE would be damaged by heat.

Electrical resistance:

Exhibits extraordinary insulation properties.

Hydrophobic:

Its resistance to water means it never gets wet, making it useful in home appliances, wound dressings and many more industrial applications.

Low coefficient of friction:

The coefficient of friction of PTFE is one of the lowest of any solid in existence, which means that nothing will stick to it.

Chemically inert:

Due to its exceptional properties, it is among the most chemically resistant polymer.

High flexural strength:

Its ability to bend and flex, even at low temperatures, means it can be easily applied to a variety of surfaces without losing its integrity

Applications of PTFE

SRF Suspension PTFE meets tough demands for challenging applications and offers a proven quality of high reliability in the following industries:

Automotive

Its remarkable properties make PTFE ideally suited for self-lubricating bearings, sliding elements and seals, especially when reinforced with special fillers.

Chemical processing/Plant construction

PTFE is recognised for its corrosion protection capabilities and as a sealing material because of its broad and excellent chemical resistance and continuous service temperature range from -200 °C to +260 °C (-328 ºF to +500 ºF).

Construction

Because of its weathering resistance, non-stick and non-combustible properties, PTFE offers unique advantages for modern membrane roof structures. Thanks to these properties, PTFE is well suited for bridge pads and other sliding bearings in building construction and civil engineering.

Electrical/Electronic engineering

PTFE offers excellent electrical insulation properties, a very low dielectric constant, high thermal stability, and flame-resistant properties.

Semiconductor

PTFE is well suited for use in manufacturing equipment due to exceptionally low ion extractables and fusibility. In addition, the ultrasmooth surfaces of machined PTFE components enable reduced wash, rinse and dry cycles.

Pharma & Medical

Due to its non-toxic and inert nature, PTFE finds multiple applications in these areas as well e.g., Catheters in IV syringes, valves, tubes & seals, etc.

Application Development Center (ADC)

This is a standalone facility which functions solely as “Technical centre” for Fluoropolymer business.

Builds technical capabilities for establishing FP products in the market and upgrading products & technologies for current and future mega trends.

Backed by a strong technical team of professionals which interfaces with key stakeholders, e.g., Plant Operations-Quality-Sales & Marketing-Customers-End Users and other external agencies.

ADC works closely with customers to provide them with extensive technical support and get the PTFE products introduced & qualified. The ADC also works to translate the customer requirements into process & product specifications.

Provides product technical services to customers for all quality-related matters, trainings, process troubleshooting and new developments, etc.
